What kind of yoga is taught at the Yoga Path?
All of us have studied more than one method of yoga. The principals that guide our teaching are:
- Linking of movement, breath, and attention
- Adaptation of techniques to meet the individual student’s needs and interests
- Intelligent sequencing of practices to achieve results without creating new stress
- Cultivating awareness so that the benefits of practice inform daily life.
What is yoga?
Yoga is a collection of techniques that bring tremendous benefit to the whole person. The primary techniques are:
- Postures (asana) that benefit the entire physical body by creating ease of movement, flexibility, and strength
- Breathing practices (pranayama) which calm and focus the mind
- Meditation techniques which influence and foster the connection between the heart and mind
- Spiritual practices involving self reflection, chanting, ritual, and contemplation

Who can do yoga?
Anyone interested can do yoga, if the practice is adapted to meet their needs. Often individuals with minor limitations can be accommodated in a group class. People with more severe limitations should start with private instruction. If you have questions about the best way to begin, or which class is best suited to your needs and interests, please contact us.
